Ways to make college football better and Rushmore of under 23 athletes

OK, this timetomorrow, the PGA will be in full swing. (See what we did there?) So, as for picking a winner, let take a shot. (Yep, we starting to build some steam.)

And know, this we still have the back end of the contest brewing, so there still some green on the line. (OK, that enough.)Here what we know.

So, yes, wholesale nfl jerseys from china Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy and Jason Day are each very excited about his chance to contend this week considering each is staggeringly long and consistent with the driver.

So after those three which everyone on the planet probably likes this weekend in some shape or form let try to pick couple of names off the reservation.

First, as great as Henrik Stenson was 10 days ago to win his first major with a dazzling 63 at The Open, it hard to go back to back, especially this close together and when you consider there was likely a fair amount of celebrating going on after the triumph at Royal Troon.

Also, Sergio Garcia ball striking suits Baltusrol well, but here betting a weekend meltdown on the green leaves him somewhere in the mid teens. Holmes, the bomber from Kentucky, and Matt Kuchar.

Holmes is long enough to challenge the course and, if he driving it well, will have a chance to go at some of these 500 yard par 4s with a mid to low iron. And the difference between hitting second shots with, say a 7 iron rather than a 3 or a 4 iron is huge.

Kuchar game and demeanor is so steady that a traditional straight forward course seems like the right venue for his breakthrough moment.

Another thing in the corner of Holmes and Kuchar is that the last four major championships were won by guys who had never won a major before.

How about those Braves, right?

A huge 2 0 win over Minnesota that really works against the team goal of finishing DFL and getting the No. 1 overall pick.

As we try to do on eachWednesday, let look at one of those prized prospects in the Braves system.

Say hello to Chris Ellis, the former Ole Miss star from Birmingham who was part of the deal that sent Andrelton Simmons to the Los Angeles Angels.

He got prototypical size for a starting pitcher at 6 foot 5 and 205 pounds. He has a mid 90s fastball with movement, and shows promise with an overhand curve and a chanegup. His biggest hurdle is control, both in and around the zone and even reaching problems with wildness.

Ellis was stellar at AA Mississippi, going 8 2 with a 2.75 with 61 Ks and 37 walks. After being promoted to AAA in mid June, he struggled early, but has kind of rebounded with three solid starts in his last four appearances.

Tuesdayhe went five innings and allowed one earned run and just one hit. He did walk five, but there no doubting he has big league stuff.

Expect to see Ellis come September, as the Braves continues their chase for the basement.

The Mocs are headed to the SoCon media event today in South Carolina.

Coach Russ Huesman will speak with the media there around 1:45, as will players Keionta Davis and Corey Levin.

As TFP UTC aceMean Gene Henley tells us here, it will be interesting to see where the Mocs rank in the preseason poll after winning at least a share of the the last three conference titles.

There a load of talent on this UTC team, a credit to the recruiting Huesman and Co. have done and the commitment to building that Huesman brought with the mindset of redshirting as man freshmen as possible.

As for today media event, well, here betting Huesman, Davis, and Levin will each get at least one question about the team quarterback Alejandro Bennifield, who takes over for Jacob Huesman, arguably the most decorated UTC football player ever.

Future Hall of Fame wideout Andre Johnson visited with the Titanson Tuesday. On face value, it as clear as Johnson, who ranks in the top 10 all time in receptions and receiving yards, just looking for a job after being released by Indy. For the Titans, it could be veteran leadership at a position of unknown and overriding your. Or it could be admitting the options they have at wide out are not as good as they hoped. (Side note: Most of Johnson numbers ninth all time in receiving yards with 14,100; eighth all time in catches with 1,053 came playing with an array of mediocre at best QBs in Houston. Plus, if he finds a job and has a pretty good season of let say 60 catches and 850 yards, he move into sixth place in yards and fourth in receptions all time.)

Amar Stoudemire retired this week, leaving the NBA after 14 goggle filled seasons. OK, quick review: Dude averaged 18.9 points and 7.8 rebounds in his 846 career games. Good numbers, no? Dude made more than $167 million playing basketball.
